Perry calls the song "a reflection of our collective past and where we came from... a reminder of the freedoms we take for granted. Being a child of immigrants who came to America through Ellis Island, this song was inspired by the path of my family. It's an anthem to all of those who have persevered through hardships to bring their families to this great country."
